FLIPPING THE LIGHT ON
I learned at a very young age the feeling of pain, betrayal, and self-hate. From those feelings I developed an unhealthy attitude. I did not know how to deal with these stressors nor how to label them, so I acted out in much less than desirable ways. Coping with one tragedy after another left me feeling empty and alone.

I began the trek of finding my place in this world much later in life than many do. However, I arrive daily at a new point in my journey. I found that people would come to me for a listening ear and advice, and much to my surprise I enjoyed it! Even more I enjoyed teaching coping mechanisms, providing educational literature, and being there to listen to them.

I have finally discovered my “gift” and I operate in it daily in some capacity. Traveling down life’s dark roads can be the loneliest of places. I have come to realize that everyone needs someone they can trust to “flip the light on” for them from time to time and help them realize that "Today’s accomplishments were yesterday’s impossibilities"—Robert H. Schuller
